HEARING AIDS

Hearing aid is an amplification device which intends to make the sound audible to a person with hearing loss.

A hearing aid has three basic parts. :Microphone, amplifier, and receiver. A hearing aid receives sounds through microphone which then converts the sound signals to electrical signals and sends them to an amplifier. The amplifier amplifies the sound and sends them to the receiver. The receiver converts the amplified electrical signals back to sound signals.

The regular use of a hearing aid helps the person to understand speech better and communicate effectively.Eventually the overall quality of life is improved.

Various factors like the type of hearing loss, etiology, patient's need & expectations, audiogram patterns etc are taken into account before advising on the appropriate management methods.
